The songs that comprise "Winter Blue and Evergreen" were written during the lockdown period of 2020 that was necessitated by the terrible COVID-19 pandemic.

Though some of the tracks duly reflect those difficult times the album also contains much optimism that our nature is to do much more than simply survive and that through our love and care the dark days could be overcome.

The album very probably could not have been made ten years earlier. Unable to record together we were forced to find a new way of working. The boon of modern technology enabled us to record live across the Internet using a data link between my studio and Siobhan’s music room. It was very strange not being able to work face to face, though somehow appropriate for the times.
